Allies Project List and Volunteer Opportunities

Free Physical Exam Form:
Update and recruit new vets to participate in the free exam for new adopters in all geographic areas of Marion County and surrounding suburbs-including finding out who does pediatric spay/neuter, who follows AVMA policy on declawing cats, etc.

Meeting Location Research Project:
research meeting locations for the Allies and for Allies events of various sizes (spreadsheet will be provided with all the data needed)-this is mostly online and telephone research but site visits are requested for your final meeting recommendations to make sure all sites are truly appropriate and meet our needs.

"Take-Home" Adoption Folders:
Develope educational adoption "take-home" folder for use by all Allies groups -one for cats-one for dogs.

Microchip Clinic:
  • microchip clinic volunteers (3 hour commitment on Saturdays once a month at various Marion County locations)
  • microchip clinic project leader-identify locations for clinics, design and distribute advertising for the clinic, recruit volunteers, balance clinic proceeds and finalize results in a report for each clinic.

Tabling:
volunteers to identify places to set up a table in high traffic areas (such as a retail store), set up a schedule, design table display, stock tip sheets to give to public, gather mailing list names and contact info, accept donations-we have tables and supplies and donation canisters-requires someone who is knowledgeable about cat/dog care or appropriate resources-fun to do with a friend or partner

Cat Care needs at Castleton PetsMart:
  • Someone to clean cages on Sunday mornings
  • Adoption counselor Thursday evening after 5pm (no cleaning)
  • Adoption counseling on Wednesdays
  • Backup for Saturday adoption counseling or split the Saturday shift for adoption counseling (no cleaning usually involved)

Volunteer Positions Needed:

Volunteer Director: job description available if you are interested in this one. Will require approximately 20-30 hours per week eventually. Will oversee these positions.

Also need these related positions to assist the Director:

  • Volunteer recruiter
  • Volunteer trainer
  • Volunteer communications (newsletter and phone work)

Volunteer Fundraising Director: job description available if you are interested in this one. Will require significant dedication of time but we can recruit a committee to assist.
